Celebrating the Coomee Nulunga Boardwalk Project

A Collaborative Achievement

Recently, Anchor Products had the privilege of supplying structural FRP members and providing the structural design for the enhancement of the Coomee Nulunga Boardwalk in Ulladulla, NSW. This project was a testament to collaboration and community, coordinated by the Shoalhaven City Council with support from the NSW Aboriginal Land Council. We are proud to have partnered with Sustainabylt Pty Ltd, whose exceptional execution has brought this vision to life.

The project encompassed the improvement of two key sections—a 600m segment and a 47m section—of the Coomee Nulunga boardwalk. Sustainabylt’s expertise in construction and dedication to excellence have transformed this area, creating a safer, more accessible experience for locals and visitors alike. The results speak for themselves, and we extend our sincere gratitude to Sustainabylt for allowing us to contribute to this important initiative.

The Beauty of Ulladulla and Its Cultural Significance

The Ulladulla coastline, with its breathtaking views of Warden Head and the iconic lighthouse, is a gem of the Shoalhaven region. This stunning setting not only showcases the natural beauty of the South Coast but also holds deep cultural and spiritual significance.

The Coomee Nulunga Cultural Trail, where the boardwalk is located, follows the path of the Rainbow Serpent, a central figure in Indigenous Dreamtime stories. Along the trail, visitors encounter Garawanda Daran (Dreaming Poles) that beautifully depict native flora and fauna while sharing their Aboriginal names. In the near future, these poles are set to be updated with interactive art pieces, adding a dynamic element to this already rich cultural experience. These enhancements aim to deepen visitor engagement while celebrating the storytelling traditions of the Wiradjuri people, the original custodians of this land.

Community Impact

This project has significantly enhanced access and walkability along the boardwalk, encouraging locals and tourists to immerse themselves in the area’s natural and cultural landscapes. Improved infrastructure ensures that this coastal treasure is enjoyed by all, promoting both recreational use and a deeper appreciation for the history of the Wiradjuri people.

At Anchor Products, we are honored to have been part of a project that blends innovation, sustainability, and respect for cultural heritage. We look forward to collaborating on similar projects in the future, supporting communities through meaningful infrastructure development.
