Molding

During this manufacturing process, continuous glass fibers are manually or automatically interlaced and thoroughly impregnated with resin to the desired dimensions. The process employs a mold or bed shaped as the necessary product, permitting sufficient time for the product to cure in its precise form.
This manufacturing process demands a great deal of labor and patience.
Pultrusion
Pultrusion is a technique utilized for manufacturing continuous fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) profiles that boast exceptional strength and dimensional stability.
The process comprises drawing composite materials, such as fiberglass, through a die to fashion a preferred shape. The materials are impregnated with resin and then pulled through a heated die where the resin solidifies and cures into the final form.
The continuous fiber reinforcement affords excellent strength, whereas the resin matrix provides stability and safeguards the fibers from impairment. Pultrusion yields an extensive variety of FRP profiles, which are utilized to create pultruded gratings.
This process furnishes numerous advantages, including high production rates, uniform product quality, and the capability to create intricate shapes with remarkable strength-to-weight ratios

Chemical Resistance
Anchor Products provides validated test report data for all our grating and flooring products, which includes information on the various types of chemicals our FRP flooring options can resist. It is important to note that the level of resistance to a chemical can be affected by the type of resin used, as well as the temperature at which the chemical and product are exposed.
If you require information on a chemical that is not provided in our resistance tables, please contact us directly. The tables provided consider standard operating temperatures.
The choice of resin used in our gratings is largely determined by the intended application. Our most commonly used resins are Ortho polyester and Iso polyester.
Ortho polyester is suitable for light industrial use and contact with salt water, providing moderate corrosion resistance without the use of fire-retardant substances.
Iso polyester, on the other hand, offers superior corrosion resistance and improved fire-retardant properties. It is ideal for use in environments with aggressive chemicals and high temperatures.
We also maintain a limited stock of gratings made from Vinyl Ester resin, which are typically produced on demand. Please contact us for recommendations on corrosion resistance for concentrations, temperatures, or chemicals not listed in this guide.
Anchor Products provides the information in this Corrosion Guide based on their extensive experience with fiberglass grating in corrosive applications. However, due to the varying use conditions and the possibility of corrosive mixtures, it is important for end-users to conduct actual tests under the specific conditions of use. SISPL’s liability for claims arising from breach of warranty or negligence is limited to the purchase price of the material sold. Test coupons can be made available upon request.

Basic Tips
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
For your safety when cutting FRP products, it is important to wear protective gear such as safety glasses, a dust mask, gloves, and a shop coat with sleeves to avoid skin irritation. It is also important to work in a well-ventilated area to prevent inhalation of dust particles.
CUTTING
To achieve the best results, use a heavy-duty rotary saw with a masonry, carbide or diamond coated blade to cut the FRP grating. Firm support of the panel will prevent shifting, and turning the panel bottom-side-up will provide a smooth surface for the saw to ride on and reduce chipping. It is important to allow for the blade width when measuring.
GRINDING
All cut edges should be ground smooth.
FINISHING
After cutting, it is recommended to coat all cut surfaces with resin to prevent corrosion of glass fibers. A two-part resin system or a comparable resin to the one used in the manufacture of the fiberglass grating should be used to maintain corrosion resistance.
CLIP INSTALLATION
For installation, it is recommended to provide a minimum of 40mm bearing support at all grating support points, and to use hold down clips at a rate of 4 per m2.
CLIP INSTALLATION
Clips should be used to join grating panels together and fasten the grating to the support system. SIS supplies various types of clips for its grating.
